Dr. Amir Ali Khoddamzadeh serving as Chair of Department of Earth and Environment<\/a> (E&E) at Florida International University (FIU).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He is an associate professor of environmental horticulture and a core faculty in the Agroecology Program and affiliated with International Center for Tropical Botany (ICTB) at the Kampong Botanic Garden within the Institute of Environment, an FIU Preeminent Program. He is a Research Associate at Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden. Dr. Khoddamzadeh is the Co-director of Global Sustainable Tourism Program, and Garden Club advisor. He served as the Undergraduate Program Director (19-23), CASE\/E&E curriculum liaison, CASE\/E&E internship liaison, and interim chair of HR (2024) and served at graduate committee (2023-2025) of the E&E Department. Dr. Khoddamzadeh Conservation and Sustainable Horticulture Lab is designated as the Trimble Technology Lab (TTL) since 2022 and is supported by Trimble Agriculture (Trimble Ag. Solutions).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He serves as the faculty fellow at Honors College<\/a> and is a member of College of Arts, Sciences & Education (CASE) Carbon Footprint Reduction committees. He is serving as CASE Internship liaison as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Khoddamzadeh spent his sabbatical at USDA ARS Subtropical Horticulture Research Station in Miami for the Spring of 2024 collaborating with the Ornamental Group on Conservation, Management, Characterization, and Distribution of Subtropical and Tropical Ornamental Genetic Resources. He is the 2024 USDA E. Kika De La Garza<\/a> “Science Fellow<\/a>“.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Khoddamzadeh serves as the Chair of Urban Horticulture Program Advisory Board led by UF\/IFAS Extension in Miami-Dade County. He chaired the Education Planning Committee, Orchid interest group and serves as the chair of Horticultural Plant Reproductive Biology (HPRB) Interest Groups and served as the chair of Human Issues in Horticulture, Seed & Stand Establishment, and Ornamental Plant Breeding Interest Groups. In addition, he chaired the Outstanding International Horticulturist Award Committee and Graduate Student Activities and is the member of Nominations and Elections Committee in the American Society for Horticultural Science (ASHS). He serves in the Conservation Committee of Florida Native Plant Society and Dan Austin Award for Ethnobotany.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Khoddamzadeh is a Fulbright Specialist and serves as Senior Fellow & Chair of the Sustainability Education Innovation Lab<\/a> at the Global Council for Science and the Environment (GCSE) and part of the aashe<\/a> Sustainability Program Directors’ Cohort and Sustainability Education Accreditation Commission (SEAC)<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He serves as associate editor in Frontiers\u00a0in Ecology and Evolution, Biogeography and Macroecology.<\/a> In addition, he is the editor\/guest editor of several scientific journals. The most recent in Frontiers in Plant Science on “Advancements in Precision Agriculture and Remote Sensing for Optimizing Fertilizer and Irrigation Management of Specialty Crops”<\/a> and in Plants “Micropropagation and Germplasm Conservation of Horticultural Plants”.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n
