I\u2019ve added a new article to the site, and it\u2019s one of my favorite kinds of pieces. It’s part rhetorical analysis, part digital autopsy, and part \u201cwhy does the internet solidify our forsaken digital footprints like this?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new essay, \u201c<\/strong>Why the Internet Remembers in Fragments,\u201d<\/strong> uses a bizarrely specific set of keywords and search phrases, including Lily<\/strong>, Memorial<\/strong>, Confidence<\/strong>, an orchard of cotton candy<\/strong>, and but my cat would miss me<\/strong>, to think through how online language circulates, sticks like used gum, mutates into evil used-gum man, and haunts like evil used-gum man’s evil used-gum.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In other words, it\u2019s about search behavior, fragmented memory, and the rhetorical afterlife that lingers like a cough of phrases people leave behind on the web.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
