Two continents in bitter struggle, but for what exactly? <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This fictional war is the catalyst for all our conflict and there&#8217;s no details regarding it? Well, dear innovators, it\u2019s time we put a <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">patch<\/span> <\/strong>on that. With our efforts combined, we shall foreground the wars that have scarred our industrious setting and wrung forth brave soldiers willing to fight for their own sense of divinely justified progress!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Now, we\u2019ve made mention of the central conflict of Warbound in this previous post, <a href=\"https:\/\/myweb.fiu.edu\/fvarg027\/2026\/02\/12\/the-dragon-dilemma\/\">The Dragon Dilemma<\/a>, which will serve as the basis for our worldbuilding here. So, consider this a kind of <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">orientation<\/span><\/strong> for all conflicts laden in our world of Warbound. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Introducing&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>\ua4a6\ua4b7The War of Ichor and Veins \ua4b7\ua4a6<\/strong><\/h1>\n\n\n\n<p>Colloquially known as the <strong>Draconian War <\/strong>or the <strong>Ichor Crisis<\/strong>, this historic war continues to span a lengthy and torturous ten-year campaign for all our unfortunate powers embroiled in it. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"436\" src=\"https:\/\/myweb.fiu.edu\/fvarg027\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7108\/2026\/04\/julien-georgel-tableaumel-1024x436.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-415\" srcset=\"https:\/\/myweb.fiu.edu\/fvarg027\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7108\/2026\/04\/julien-georgel-tableaumel-1024x436.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/myweb.fiu.edu\/fvarg027\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7108\/2026\/04\/julien-georgel-tableaumel-300x128.jpg 300w, https:\/\/myweb.fiu.edu\/fvarg027\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7108\/2026\/04\/julien-georgel-tableaumel-768x327.jpg 768w, https:\/\/myweb.fiu.edu\/fvarg027\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7108\/2026\/04\/julien-georgel-tableaumel-1536x654.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/myweb.fiu.edu\/fvarg027\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7108\/2026\/04\/julien-georgel-tableaumel.jpg 1920w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Though initially waged between <strong>Khorvaire <\/strong>and <strong>Draconia<\/strong>, the fighting has escalated into an intercontinental mess between other countries like <strong>Solanos<\/strong>, the land of spirits and soul power, and <strong>Ixtum<\/strong>, the land of primordial giants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here at Warbound Diaries, we took to the philosophy that conflicts of commodities are what oft incite warfare, and it is no different here. Ichor, the <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">thick<\/span><\/strong> and golden blood of dead dragons, <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">was the scarcity that fueled<\/span><\/strong> this particular war, but more precisely that of its <strong>veins<\/strong>, that is the accumulated reservoirs of ichor trapped beneath the earth. Ichor is a vigorously potent magical fuel for the global economy of Eberron, the wider world where Warbound takes place. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Without control of ichor and veins, the magical machinery of the nations would face global malfunction, ceasing all operation of necessary technology. Ichor was so invaluable, in fact, that no <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">jewel<\/span><\/strong> could outsell it. A maxim even spawned from ichor and its origins:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><em>Slake thyself in the vitality of the progenitor, and be made fuller for it<\/em>.<\/p>\n<cite>Beggar dane<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>The Ichor Crisis still proves to be a bitter struggle for control of ichor with no conclusion in sight. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Facts of the Draconian War<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>As of the present year in Warbound, the total death count of the Draconian War rests at between <strong>2.5 to 6 million Khorvarian lives<\/strong> over the course of a decade, thus making it the deadliest international conflict ever waged.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"565\" src=\"https:\/\/myweb.fiu.edu\/fvarg027\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7108\/2026\/04\/pete-amachree-steering-the-ship-of-state-1024x565.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-416\" srcset=\"https:\/\/myweb.fiu.edu\/fvarg027\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7108\/2026\/04\/pete-amachree-steering-the-ship-of-state-1024x565.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/myweb.fiu.edu\/fvarg027\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7108\/2026\/04\/pete-amachree-steering-the-ship-of-state-300x165.jpg 300w, https:\/\/myweb.fiu.edu\/fvarg027\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7108\/2026\/04\/pete-amachree-steering-the-ship-of-state-768x424.jpg 768w, https:\/\/myweb.fiu.edu\/fvarg027\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7108\/2026\/04\/pete-amachree-steering-the-ship-of-state-1536x847.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/myweb.fiu.edu\/fvarg027\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7108\/2026\/04\/pete-amachree-steering-the-ship-of-state.jpg 1920w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Of the recorded toll, <strong>800,000 are civilians and 1.7 million military have been killed in action<\/strong>. Numbers do not include allies nor those killed by wounds, accidents, or disease.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Damage of the Draconian War<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Forests and farmlands scorched by fire and magic are still recovering. Magic-fueled weapons, aerial cavalry, and guerrilla forces all struck deep within enemy territory, and the cities of Khorvaire still suffer. Where you go, you might see the marks of war or wreckage from siege or artillery weapons. Every nation is working to repair these wounds, but the damage could linger for generations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Not much of a <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">comedy<\/span><\/strong>, huh? It&#8217;s necessary that the gloom and doom of war is thoroughly communicated, because war isn&#8217;t a battlefield for glory. War is a tragic failure of statecraft and politics, and the worldbuilding should treat it as such!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When you&#8217;re writing your international conflicts, consider the following:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>What countries have lost because of the onset of war?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Are there significant figureheads who&#8217;ve been tragically killed in the crossfire?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>How much progress has been undone because of the needless fighting?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Always ensure that you capture the tone of war as something devastating and destructive. This isn&#8217;t something to idolize or seek out. It&#8217;s <strong>war<\/strong>.
