Beginning in 1990, every year we&nbsp;have submitted&nbsp;and&nbsp;average of 15 symposia for the annual meeting of the Association. I invited highly renowned speakers to this conference (e.g., Kurt Fisher from Harvard University; Hayne Reese, West Virginia University; Tom Bower, UCLA Willis Overton, Temple University, William Baum, UC\u2013Davis, Kurt&nbsp;Salzinger, APA).&nbsp;&nbsp;The programs of the symposia organized are annually organized and published in the&nbsp;<em>Behavioral Development Bulletin<\/em>, Martha Pelaez, Editor.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>1992&nbsp;<em>Member, Steering Committee of International Conference for Infant Studies (ICIS).<\/em>&nbsp;&nbsp;In collaboration with Dr. Tiffany Field of the University of&nbsp;Miami&nbsp;developed the program and prepared local arrangements for the International Conference of Infant Studies, May 7-10, Miami Beach.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>1991\u20132015&nbsp;<em>Editor, Behavioral Development Bulletin<\/em>, the Bulletin of the&nbsp;<em>Development Special Interest Group<\/em>&nbsp;of the Association for Behavior Analysis.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2015\u20132017 Co-Editor (with M. Commons) of the Behavior Development Bulletin, an APA journal.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>1993\u20131994&nbsp;<em>Interim<\/em>&nbsp;<em>Co-Director, Touch Research Institute&nbsp;(TRI), University of Miami Medical School, Department of Pediatrics<\/em>.&nbsp;&nbsp;Service here included the supervision and coordination of the research activities of some 30 research associates and&nbsp;research assistants working in three laboratories and school settings&nbsp;located&nbsp;at Lindsey Hopkins Technical School of Dade County Board of Education, at the Mailman Center for Child Development, and at the Touch Research Institute.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>1995\u20132009&nbsp;<em>Member of Editorial Board<\/em>&nbsp;of&nbsp;<em>The&nbsp;Behavior Analyst<\/em>&nbsp;journal. Responsibilities include services connected with the committee\u2019s statewide oversight process concerning behavior analysis services provided by the department of Children and Family Services.&nbsp;&nbsp;These services include participation on Peer Review Committee on-site monitoring of behavior analysis services, development of guidelines and Medicaid-Waiver analysis, writing the Florida Behavior Analysis Certification Examinations and review proposals for Behavior Analysis Certification Programs.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>1998&nbsp;<em>Editor<\/em>, for the Special Issue on Human Development\/Volume of the Mexican Journal of Behavior Analysis titled:&nbsp;<em>Behavior Analysis of Development.<\/em>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>1999\u20132001&nbsp;<em>Program Co-Chair,<\/em>&nbsp;(Francis McSweeney, Chair) of ABA (the Annual Meeting of the International Association for Behavior Analysis). Weinberg, Editor)<em>.&nbsp;<\/em>This is a private group for the governing board of the behavior&nbsp;analyst online organization&nbsp;www.behavior-analyst-online.org&nbsp;a&nbsp;special interest group of the Association for Behavior Analysis&nbsp;International.)&nbsp;This group is in charge of the publication of 7 scientific peer-reviewed journals.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2007\u20132009, 2011&nbsp;<em>Chair&nbsp;and Co-Chair&nbsp;of Human Development&nbsp;Special Interest Group (SIG)&nbsp;of ABAI<\/em>&nbsp;(Association for Behavior Analysis&nbsp;International). Charges include all the SIG activities (editor of the journal, recruiting and informing membership and developing annual convention program&nbsp;by inviting Skinner Lecture, Invited Tutorial, and Invited Symposia,&nbsp;running&nbsp;business meeting,&nbsp;presenting at&nbsp;ABA Exposition).&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2008\u20132012&nbsp;<em>Program Coordinator&nbsp;and Program Committee of the Association for Behavior Analysis International (ABAI).&nbsp;<\/em>I contributed&nbsp;substantially to&nbsp;the richness and variety of the&nbsp;Association for Behavior Analysis&nbsp;annual convention&nbsp;program&nbsp;in Chicago, Phoenix,&nbsp;Denver&nbsp;and Seattle.&nbsp;&nbsp;Organized&nbsp;more than 20 presentations and symposia delivered by well-known scientists.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2013\u20132015&nbsp;<em>Chair<\/em>&nbsp;of the Human Development Special Interest Group&nbsp;(SIG)&nbsp;of the International Association for Behavior Analysis (ABAI).&nbsp;&nbsp;I chaired our SIG meetings&nbsp;at our 39th&nbsp;and 40<sup>th<\/sup>&nbsp;Annual Conventions&nbsp;and developed the new By -Laws and Strategic Plan (including Invited Guest lecturers, Invited Tutorials, Membership, Publications Outlet&nbsp;BDB) for our Convention Program for the upcoming meeting and for other SIG activities.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2012\u20132013&nbsp;&nbsp;<em>Trustee.<\/em>&nbsp;Member of the Board of Trustees of the Cambridge Center for Behavioral Studies. As&nbsp;representative&nbsp;of&nbsp;faculty&nbsp;my efforts have been to gain greater legislative cloud and funding for FIU.&nbsp;&nbsp;My&nbsp;main focus&nbsp;has been on&nbsp;funding for&nbsp;faculty salaries, enrollment growth, accountability measures, and tracking the approval of the new school-code rewrite. We were able to start the next fiscal year without cuts.&nbsp;&nbsp;Our enrollment growth at FIU was&nbsp;funded&nbsp;and we will be receiving more than $21 million for new facilities construction. Two schools of Medicine projects were carefully considered and reviewed by the Florida Board of Governors for more than one year during a series of meetings.&nbsp;On&nbsp;March 23 in Tallahassee our BOG approved&nbsp;FIU\u2019s and UCF\u2019s proposals for two new medical schools as part of a solution to help alleviate a pending doctor shortage at the state level and build on the economic momentum from the continued development of biotechnology and life sciences initiatives. The new public School of Medicine at FIU in Miami alone is estimated to create&nbsp;more&nbsp;12,000 new jobs and have&nbsp;an annual impact&nbsp;in excess of&nbsp;$1.1 billion.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2006&nbsp;&nbsp;<em>Member<\/em>&nbsp;<em>of Search &amp; Screen Committee<\/em>&nbsp;for the&nbsp;first&nbsp;Dean&nbsp;of the new FIU Medical School,&nbsp;John Rock (Divina Grossman, Chair&nbsp;Herbert Wertheim, Co-Chair).&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2007\u20132008&nbsp;<em>Member of Search &amp; Screen Committee<\/em>&nbsp;for the director of the new Patricia &amp;&nbsp;Phillip Frost Art Museum&nbsp;(Dean&nbsp;Juan Martinez, Chair, Patricia Frost, Member), College of Architecture.&nbsp;The&nbsp;new Museum will move into a new 46,000-square-foot,&nbsp;state of the art&nbsp;facility with nine galleries and&nbsp;numerous&nbsp;exhibits. This committee searched&nbsp;for a candidate with&nbsp;distinguish&nbsp;record of sustained professional achievement.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2009\u20132012&nbsp;<em>Member of the FIU Faculty Senate Ad Hoc Global Learning Curriculum Oversight Committee<\/em>.<strong>&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/strong>This 5-member committee does the work for the Senate in reviewing and approving all new courses&nbsp;submitted&nbsp;for the Global Learning University required core. The committee reviews the syllabi in terms of their assessment plans and discipline-specific readings and content as well as interdisciplinary content and readings, active learning strategies, and integrated co-curricular activity. As&nbsp;reviewers we&nbsp;considered whether: (1) the required readings include the common core reading and learning outcomes; (2) the syllabus describes the active learning components (such as student site visits) of the course; and (3) the readings are linked to lectures in a way that clarifies the Global&nbsp;Learning content of the course.
