While the event brings excitement and tourism to Miami each year since its inception in 1999, it also fuels ongoing conversations about safety in the surrounding local community. This year&#8217;s Ultra showcased both the <strong>positive<\/strong> economic boost <em>and<\/em> the logistical difficulties that come with throwing such a large-scale event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What will the neighbors say?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>As if by yearly tradition, local residents expressed mixed reactions across local news stations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Residents share concerns over Ultra Music Festival as road closures, noise level cause issues\" width=\"676\" height=\"380\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/vPmauTWxgrI?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>While some welcomed the exhilarating energy and increased business, others still described the weekend as excessive and just downright <strong>unpleasant<\/strong> due to the increase in traffic and noise. Gatherings as large as Ultra naturally carry some <strong>risk<\/strong>, especially when it comes to transportation, hydration, and emergency personnel access. During Illenium\u2019s sunset set on opening day, the skyline glowed red to match the fiery phoenix visuals the popular DJ uses in his shows<strong>. No matter how beautiful the sunset<\/strong> may have been, Illenium&#8217;s music and visuals stole the spotlight. Booming bass and immersive visuals created an experience powerful enough <strong>to liquefy your brain<\/strong>. Sets like these show exactly why fans continue to return year after year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Other notable sets this year included experimental dark artist Voyd, Excision, Steve Aoki, Snow Strippers, Sara Landry, Amelie Lens, Martin Garrix, Alesso, DJ Snake, several of Bob Marley&#8217;s grandsons, and a very special surprise appearance by dubstep legend and founder, Skrillex.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"ILLENIUM | Ultra Music Festival 2026 (FULL SET)\" width=\"676\" height=\"380\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/9i8XVK77EH8?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Keys to the City<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>This year also marked the inauguration of an official \u201cUltra Day,\u201d cementing the city commissioner&#8217;s recognition of the cultural significance of the Ultra Music Festival. While concerns about noise, crowd size, and infrastructure remain (and probably always will), the <strong>positive<\/strong> economic impact the city receives annually due to this event reinforce its cultural and financial significance for us as a city.
