Today were are going to take a little dip into one of my favorite artistic expressions!

Respect is a poem that I wrote when I was about 19 years old.

My sister had gone into labor, early in the morning. ☀️

Anytime I experience high emotions, I feel the need to pick up a pen.

My niece was just born and I felt the need to write something for her.

Respect was written as appreciation.

Appreciation for the title that I have been given, and the care that comes with it.

I had to lead by example for those younger than me, by also respecting the love and appreciation that I had been given, to grow into adulthood.

To hold someone’s values or beliefs into recognition, it shows them that you see them.

Although she may not understand now, respect matures in age.

Events that may have happened when you are younger can have a completely different interpretation once you get older.

So, it’s important that I lead with love, not just through my words but in my actions as well.

We celebrate our wins and give cuddles to each other in our losses.

She is 8 as of now.

So much has changed……but one thing’s for sure.

I respect her in every way possible.
