🌸Metacritical Self- Assessment🌸

This is a metacritical assessment overview of the development of the “Sun🪷Lotus” website.  

Highlighting its design, usability, utility, and prose, I relied heavily on the Purdue Owl and Wikihow articles to make my post more user-friendly and concise. While I already watched the film “The Girlfriend” and attended each location in my writing sample, I made sure to conduct more research in order to provide more insightful information for my viewers. 

The goal of the site’s design was to be dream-like, so I made an effort to use light pastel colors. Applying it to both the wallpaper and the headings, I wanted the readers to feel relaxed and excited to read the content. I used Canva in order to make the banner on the “Home page”, hoping to explicit center it around the content of the website.  

When it came to picking the pictures, gifs, and emojis, I searched thoroughly for vibrant media to match the website. Striving to match the essence of the website, while also being informative and funny. 

Thankful my previous experience with WIX allowed me to know how to apply utility links for each post. This allows for my readers to click on the linked websites right from the post.  

Some major changes that I made to adapt to the website were changing certain pictures and reducing a lot of text in each post. I attempted to apply shorter sentences and paragraphs for easier readability. 

Despite being fun, some of the hardest tasks on this website were developing the pages, I often ran into trouble posting the content on the “Home page” making it a slight inconvenience. Regardless, I was able to find an alternative solution to any other problems that presented itself, but I am welcome to the feedback. To conclude this assessment, this experience was a learning step stool that has prepared me for a diverse working environment. 

Update 3/12/26 :

Going into module 3, I look forward to learning more about attracting an audience, focusing on the aspects of search engine optimization and constructing an analytics report. I hope at the very least to gain base knowledge on how to improve reader responsiveness based on analytics.  

Not only do I hope to have my readers engage with my content, but I also hope for them to engage with each other.  

There are so many amazing content creators out there, but just like fish living in the ocean; there are so many that go unnoticed. This is definitely uncharted territory, so I am both excited and nervous about this module.  

These weeks, I have been testing my website’s style in each post in order to match my personality. Through excessive planning, my goal is to encourage my readers to try new things, whether it’s physically or mentally.  

Especially since I plan on continuing the foundation of this website after this class and graduation, so I want to try and work out the kinks now.  

For example, in regards to my classmates’ comments on the “Health blog”, I feel inspired to continue my chosen style. I enjoy using GIFs in my post because they help make my readers smile and also break up the blocks of text.  

One of my biggest hardships was uploading the audio assignment; once again, it was a WordPress restriction that didn’t support my audio format. As an alternative I decided to upload it to YouTube similarly to how I did my “Makeup Tutorial”.  

Update 4/19/26 :

In order to increase my “Keyword Density” percentage throughout my website, I decided to re-edit all my posts and blogs in order to drive more audiences towards them. One of the first things, I made sure to stay aware of was, using specific words that is able to flow properly with my content. According to Search Engine Journal, “You’ll want to target specific keywords that are relevant to your website’s established niche and have low competition” (McCoy, 2021).

The referred websites were mainly there to help explain in-depth of what my content may be, as well as how popular the topic is. According to Search Engine Journal,” Understanding search intent will allow you to properly target your intended audience based on their motives for using a search engine.” (McCoy, 2021). The editing process was a lot easier than I originally thought, and I actually had fun revising my previous work. It reminded me of how much content I was able to produce since this semester started.

This class has taught me that in the future, I need to keep SEO optimization in mind. While keywords are always changing, it’s important to construct a blog post with a running list of keywords that’s targeted towards my content.

While WordPress.com may have its limitations, it showed me that I need to adapt to the platforms that are presented to me in the “real world”. Although it was a headache at the first, this process allowed me to experiment with my content, web designs, and the research process when it comes to running a website.
