6. Finish Setup

There are a few more steps you can take to set up your website.

Let search engines find your site: By default, your website discourages search engines like Google from adding it to their search results. From your Dashboard, go to Settings > Reading and uncheck “Discourage search engines from indexing this site.”

It may take some time for search engines to find your website after you enable indexing. If it still doesn’t show up in searches after a couple weeks, submit the Website Feedback form for assistance.

(Optional) Add more editors: From your Dashboard, go to Users and click “Add Existing” to add other MyWeb users to edit your website. You can set their permissions.

Anyone who wants to edit a MyWeb site must also own a MyWeb site. They can register a website and leave the “Discourage search engines” option on so it will not be found.

(Optional) Request a vanity URL: Use the Website Feedback form to request a vanity URL like mylab.fiu.edu that redirects to your website. It won’t replace the official myweb.fiu.edu/myusername address on your website, but will provide an easy link you can share. Alternatively, you could create a Go link such as go.fiu.edu/name.
